U C What I C

By Chris
For the classroom exercise, we had to go out of the classroom to find a subject and capture it in my sketch in a way that it tells a story. I drew a sketch of a guy using his laptop. From the sketch, do you think a) he is going to tap at his laptop or b) is he pointing at someone near him? And why does he look so happy? Did he receive good news through email? Hmmm hopefully that sets people thinking...

For Assignment 3, as the title suggests, I have to tell a story to an audience using not more than 10 pictures. This is to help me understand the techniques of visual representation and to communicate my ideas effectively.

I really had a tough time coming out with an idea. I thought long and hard for almost 2 days before I finally managed to think of my current work. Actually, I had 2 other ideas but I do not have the required props and time was not on my side.

The first idea: There is a box marked "Beware! Dangerous!". Then I tried to show there is something very dangerous inside that box like showing the chilly eyes and sharp claws. Suddenly, that thing jumped out of the box and sprang on me. I was struggling and trying to fight for my life. In the end, it is my dog that wants to play with me. However, my dog is not cooperating thus I could not get the required shots.

Here are some of the shots of my 1st idea:

My 2nd idea was to have a chair and shoes near the window. Next shot will be something like a will. It is supposed to happen in the night. However, I could not think of any more shots so I had to abandon this idea.

For my finalised work, I named it as "Surprise". Here's how it goes:

1) I'm reading a book titled "How To Get Rich Fast?"

2)Suddenly, my handphone rang.

3) I reached out for my phone.

4) It looked like I received a bad news!

5) Oh my god!! It can't be!!

6) What am I looking for??

7) What am I doing??

8) What's that I'm reaching out for?

9) Where am I?? Suicide??

10) Ohhh... I received a call that informed me that I had won a $1,000,000!! I was so overwhelmed that I shed happy tears. Then I went to search for the winning voucher. But where is it?? Suddenly, a huge gush of wind almost blew my voucher out of the window. But I managed to hold onto it. Boy, am I happy!!!

One thing the tutor mentioned was to standardize my photos presentation ie. all in portrait styles or all using landscape styles.
